Roborock Saros 10R review: impressive automation, mixed carpet evidence
The Saros 10R combines a very low body, a liftable chassis and a full-service dock. Published tests agree on its hard-floor and automation strengths, but they do not agree on carpet and pet-hair performance.

The short version
The Roborock Saros 10R is most convincing for homes where low furniture, hard floors and automated maintenance matter more than a definitive pet-hair result on carpet.[3][4][5] Roborock lists a robot height of 7.98 cm, an AdaptiLift chassis and a manufacturer claim of up to 4 cm threshold crossing.[3]
The outside evidence is strongest on hard-floor pickup, mopping convenience, low-clearance access and obstacle handling.[4][5] It is less settled on carpets.[4][5][6] Vacuum Wars measured 92% pickup of flattened pet hair on carpet and 80% in a deep-clean carpet test, while RTINGS describes pet-hair pickup as inadequate and says multiple passes may be needed.[4][5]
That disagreement is not a reason to hide one result. It is the reason not to turn a single pet-hair number into a universal verdict. Tom’s Guide, using a different test with a 5 x 5-foot carpet area, recorded 98% pet-hair pickup.[6] The methods, materials and pass counts are not like for like.[4][6]
Editorial conclusion: The Saros 10R is a credible premium vacuum-and-mop candidate for low furniture, hard floors and hands-off dock work. It is not a safe purchase based on the assumption that its anti-tangle brush guarantees the best carpet performance for a shedding-pet household. No RobotVacuumTest own-test verdict is possible until a physical unit and a complete test record exist.
What is the Roborock Saros 10R?
The 10R is a high-end robot vacuum and mop built around a low-profile navigation design.[3] Instead of a tall mechanical LiDAR turret, Roborock describes StarSight Autonomous System 2.0 with solid-state sensing, 3D time-of-flight detection and an RGB camera for obstacle recognition.[3] The design leaves the body at 7.98 cm, which is the practical feature to check if a bed, sofa or cabinet is just below the height of a conventional LiDAR robot.[3]
The standard robot dimensions listed by Roborock are 350 x 353 x 79.8 mm. The standard dock[3] is listed at 381 x 475 x 488 mm.[3] Those are shell dimensions, not the complete clearance the robot needs to leave, turn and return reliably, so measure the installation area rather than reserving only the footprint.[3]
There is also a plumbing-ready refill-and-drainage configuration.[3] Roborock states that this version is available only in certain regions and countries.[3] Do not assume that a standard US listing includes the plumbing kit or the smaller dock shown for that variant.[2][3]
How much suction does the Saros 10R have?
The published Pa figures are inconsistent across the pages reviewed.[1][6][9] The Amazon US product title says 22,000 Pa, while Tom’s Guide describes the Saros 10R at 19,000 Pa and a German hands-on review lists the same 19,000 Pa figure.[6][9]
This may reflect regional listings or different publication data, but it is enough reason not to treat the Pa headline as a performance score.[1][6][9] Pickup tests are more useful because they show what a particular unit did with particular material.[4][5][6] In this review, the suction number is therefore recorded as a published specification, not used to predict cleaning quality.
What do the third-party tests actually show?
The available tests give the Saros 10R real strengths, but they also show why a single overall label would be misleading.[4][5][6]

Vacuum Wars says it bought the Saros 10R and evaluated it in real-world scenarios.[4] Its page also states that it independently buys and tests the products it reviews.[4] We still call the result a reader-supported third-party test, not a RobotVacuumTest test. Vacuum Wars discloses that it participates in affiliate programs and may receive a commission when readers buy through its links.[8]
The sensible buying conclusion is narrower than “good at everything”: the Saros 10R has strong published evidence on hard floors and useful evidence on carpet, but the pet-hair result depends heavily on the test method and carpet conditions.[4][5][6] Buyers with deep or heavily loaded carpet should keep a return option and should not rely on the anti-tangle claim alone.
How well does it handle thresholds and low furniture?
Low clearance and threshold climbing are the Saros 10R’s most distinctive design promises.[3][4][5] Roborock claims up to 4 cm threshold crossing through the AdaptiLift chassis.[3] The number describes the manufacturer’s stated capability, not a guarantee for every doorway.
The third-party results are more specific.[4][5] Vacuum Wars reports successful crossings of 20 mm and 26 mm boards, but says its unit could not clear a single-tier threshold at around 36 mm.[4] Its later user-feedback analysis makes the same distinction: the widely advertised 40 mm capability is described as applying to tiered thresholds rather than every single sharp step.[7]
RTINGS reports a maximum threshold height of 3.8 cm in its testing and a lowest cleared furniture height of 8.0 cm.[5] RTINGS also warns that an unmarked threshold may stop the robot because it does not raise the front wheel when it approaches.[5]
Practical reading: measure the actual lip, its edge profile and the direction of approach. A 4 cm manufacturer claim should not be read as “every 4 cm doorway works,” especially when the result depends on whether the obstacle is single-tier or stepped.[3][4][5] The existing home-fit checklist should be completed before ordering.
Is the Saros 10R good for mopping?
Mopping is one of the more consistent strengths across the outside reviews.[4][5] The 10R uses two rotating pads, one of which can extend toward edges.[3][4] Vacuum Wars scored it at 103 points in its dried-stain evaluation against an average of 98.[4] RTINGS likewise lists great mopping performance.[5]
Carpet separation is a useful design feature, but its settings matter.[3][4] Vacuum Wars reports that the pads lift by 8 mm when carpet is detected and that the pads can be left at the dock during a carpet-first vacuum run.[4] Roborock’s own page describes automatic mop removal before vacuum-only and carpet cleaning, but notes that the function must be activated through the Roborock app.[3]
The dock washes mop pads with 80°C water and dries them with 55°C warm air according to Roborock’s product information.[3] RTINGS reports the same nominal wash and drying temperatures in its review.[5]
There is still a small caveat around finish quality.[7] Vacuum Wars’ later review of user feedback records occasional reports of streaking, uneven water distribution and residue, but treats these as a minority issue rather than a universal failure.[7] This is a reason to adjust water flow and check the floor after the first runs, not evidence that every Saros 10R will leave streaks.
Does the dock really make maintenance hands-off?
It removes much of the repetitive work, but not all maintenance.[3][4][5] Roborock markets the station as a 10-in-1 dock with automatic dust emptying, mop washing, drying, water refilling, detergent dispensing and dock-tray cleaning.[3] Vacuum Wars confirms the dock washes the pads, dries them, refills the robot’s mop tank and empties debris into a disposable bag.[4]
The trade-offs are space, consumables and periodic cleaning.[4][5] Vacuum Wars lists a 270 ml robot dustbin and a 2.7 L disposable dock bag.[4] RTINGS reports 3.7 L clean and dirty water tanks and notes that its test dock could plug before the dirtbag was full.[5]
Owners still need to replace the bag and consumables, empty the dirty-water tank and clean the tanks, tray, filters, sensors and charging contacts.[5] RTINGS describes the operating cost as high and lists recurring replacement intervals for the brushroll, side brush, filter, mop pads and dustbag.[5] The dock is therefore best understood as maintenance reduction, not maintenance elimination.[4][5]
Is there a camera and what about privacy?
Yes. This is not a camera-free robot.[3] Roborock describes an RGB camera for visual recognition and says that no images are stored, alongside a TÜV Rheinland security claim.[3] Tom’s Guide reports that the app can be configured to take photos of pets and obstacles during use.[6]
Those statements describe different layers of the product experience: a manufacturer privacy claim and an app feature observed by an outside reviewer.[3][6] Buyers who do not want a camera in the home should choose a camera-free model instead. Buyers who are comfortable with the feature should read the current privacy settings and app permissions before enabling pet monitoring or obstacle photos.
The US product page also says that the Saros 10R supports only 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi and not 5 GHz.[2] Check the network available at the intended dock location before ordering.

Who should buy the Saros 10R?
The published evidence makes the Saros 10R a sensible candidate for buyers who match most of these conditions:

- You can keep the floor reasonably clear. RTINGS reports strong obstacle handling but specifically warns about USB cords and rug tassels.[5]
- You accept a camera and 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. The RGB camera and network requirement are part of the product’s design, not optional marketing language.[3][2]
It is a weaker fit for a buyer who has deep carpet, expects one pass to remove heavily embedded pet hair, cannot use 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, wants a camera-free robot or needs an unconditional promise that a single sharp 4 cm doorway will be crossed.[3][4][5] The available evidence does not support those promises.[3][4][5]
What should you check before ordering?
- Measure the furniture clearance. Use the lowest point the robot must pass under, not the nominal height of the sofa or bed.
- Measure every threshold from both sides. Record the height, edge shape, surface and whether it is a single lip or a stepped transition.[3][4][5]
- Check the dock location. The dock is tall and deep, and it needs usable space for approach and departure beyond its shell dimensions.[3]
- Confirm Wi-Fi. The official US page says 2.4 GHz only.[2]
- Decide whether the camera is acceptable. Read the current privacy controls before enabling pet monitoring or obstacle photos.
- Budget for bags and parts. A fully automated dock still has recurring consumables and cleaning tasks.[4][5]

The Roborock Saros 10R has a coherent design goal: put a capable vacuum-and-mop system into a body low enough to reach furniture that taller robots miss, then automate the routine work in the dock.[3][4][5] The published evidence supports that goal most clearly on hard floors, low-clearance access, mopping convenience and obstacle avoidance.[3][4][5]
The main caution is carpet and pet hair.[4][5][6] Vacuum Wars and Tom’s Guide report strong pet-hair pickup in their own setups, while RTINGS reports inadequate pickup and multiple passes on carpet.[4][5][6] Those findings should remain side by side because they answer different test questions. The anti-tangle brush can reduce brush maintenance without proving that every carpet will be cleaned in one pass.[3][4][5]
At the retrieved Amazon deal price of $899.99, the automation package is easier to justify than at the $1,599.99 list price, but both the price and the available configuration are time-sensitive.[1]
