Corrections and Update Policy

Corrections

When we publish something wrong, we:

1. Fix it in place, in the same page, as soon as it is confirmed.
2. Add a dated correction note showing what the page previously said.
3. Leave that note permanently. We do not quietly edit a figure and move on.

Typo and formatting fixes are not logged. Anything that changes a number, a conclusion, a ranking position or a price is.

Report an error

Send the page URL and what you believe is wrong to the contact address on our contact page. Measurements you took yourself are welcome - if your unit behaves differently from a published claim, that is itself useful data and may trigger a future test.

Retests

We retest when:

• A firmware or app update materially changes behaviour we previously measured.
• A manufacturer revises the hardware while keeping the model name.
• Our own equipment or method changes in a way that affects comparability.
• A reader reports a result that contradicts a published claim and we can reproduce it.

A retest replaces the old figures and states the date and firmware of both the original and the new measurement.

Updates and freshness

Pages carry a real “last updated” date reflecting a substantive change. We do not touch a date to look current. Price data carries the date it was checked; we would rather show a dated price than a wrong one.

Withdrawals

If a product is discontinued we keep the review online, marked as discontinued, because owners still need the data. If we lose confidence in a result and cannot retest, we remove the figure and say why, rather than leaving a number we no longer trust.

Protocol versions

Results are tagged with the protocol version they were measured under. When the protocol changes materially we increment the version, republish the methodology, and note which results predate the change.
